Rogue Cheney(Ryos) x Reader

Chapter 3: Broken Bonds

Rogue instantly follows Sting and Lector with Frosch flying beside him. He didn't give Sting enough time to explain everything, knowing that it would be wasted time if he didn't rush to the guild soon. There were many questions running through his mind, all pertaining to your well being and what kind of trouble you were in.

He enters the main hall shoving through a large crowd of people. His red eyes widen as he sees you on the floor with Master standing over you. You were clutching your stomach, one arm helping you into a sitting position.

"I...I don't regret what I did." you say as Master Jiemma glares and grabs you by the front of your top.

"How dare you say that! How could you shame the name of Sabertooth!?" He throws you hard to the ground.

"I couldn't leave Waotaka there! We needed to stop the mission! If we continued, he would've died!"

"Then you should have let him!" Jiemma glances at your partner for that mission, who was attempting to hide in the audience, too afraid to speak up. "Because of you, our client refuses to give us any more missions! Don't you understand that he was one of our best clients? Now he thinks we can't handle any more jobs! You made him think we are weak!"

Jiemma kicks you repeatedly, at times launching you to a different part of the room. He continues to verbally and physically attack you, Rogue's anger becoming too much for him to control as his power begins to rise.

"R-r-rogue...__(y/n)-nee...s-she's..." Frosch has tears down his face while Lector his beside his green friend for comfort. Rogue lets out a small growl, about to charge but is held back by his dragon partner.

"You can't!" Sting keeps his voice low.

"What do you mean I can't? He's hurting __(y/n)!" Rogue doesn't care if his voice reaches Jiemma, hoping it would so that he would become distracted.

"I know, but if you interfere, he'll destroy BOTH of you! How can you be of any help if you're too injured to even stand? I want to help, too, but I know it'll only make __(y/n)'s punishment worse!"

"I won't let any of that happen! I'm going to protect her!"

Rogue turns his head to where you are, Sting trying his hardest to stop him from interrupting. He didn't want to see two of his friends hurt. Rogue attempts to take a step forward, but finds that there is something preventing him from doing so. He looks down to see a magical circle underneath him and Sting, Rogue sensing this power from you. You had heard the two boys and you refused to allow them to get close to your angry Master. Rogue shouts your name, telling you to stop the magical binds so that he could help you.

"Who the hell is yelling?" Jiemma stops his attacks momentarily, Sting placing both of his hands on Rogue's mouth. Master then turns back to you, scoffing at your curled and shaking form. He walks over to a table where there was food laid out for him, grabbing his meals and throwing them at you.

"Weak! Pathetic!" You hear him say as your arms cover your head, feeling that he was throwing his entire dinnerware at you. Once there was nothing left, he gives one last kick before starting to leave.

"If any of you try to help her, you too, will be punished! Leave that weakling there!" He finally exits the room, some of the guild members laughing and berating you harshly.

"That was at stupid move you did! No one in this guild tries to help their members! It's every man for themselves!"

"Look at you! How pitiful!"

"Master was too kind on you!"

"Weak!"

"Loser!"

"Stupid!"

Your heart aches at your lack of support from your guild members, letting out quiet sobs as you lay on the floor covered with dirt, food, and your blood.

'Shouldn't I be used to this? There are no bonds in this guild...' you thought to yourself as you tried to hold in your cries. You were grateful that your four boys wanted to help, but you didn't want them getting involved. [1]

Rogue manages to break free from your magical circle, his anger choking those who were criticizing you. A wave of shadows pushes the audience out of the room and closing the doors shut, leaving the five of you in the main hall. Rogue whispers your name as he kneels beside you, using his cape to wipe your face and arms.

"I'm sorry..." He says quietly as he carefully holds you.

"Don't be...I didn't want him getting mad at you, too." You knew he was apologizing for not being able to stop Master, but you were the one who didn't let him. "Besides, I think I would have been mad if you interfered. I don't want my problems burdening you." You let out a small smile, attempting to make him feel less guilty.

"__(y/n)-nee...a-are you okay?" You hear Frosch sniffle as he's beside you, tears running down his cheeks.

"Yes, I'll be okay. I just need to shower then I'll be all right." You don't sound convincing as you hold onto your torso, wincing from the pain.

"Fro is sorry. Fro is too weak."

"No, honey, don't be sorry. No one is weak. Trust me, ne?"

"I think we should bandage her up. Let's get her back to the dorms." Sting suggested as Rogue carefully lifts you in his arms before leading the small group.

--

You showered first to clean your body from the filth and blood. It took you a while due to pain during movement, but you managed. You needed to. Rogue and Frosch were in your room, helping wrap your injuries. Most were bruises, but you didn't want to expose them to the world. Sting and Lector also enter, both holding food to replenish your energy and to hopefully aid in wound healing. You ate what you could, leaving the plate on your table then thanked your friends for making the meal.

"I almost forgot to thank you, Sting. For keep Rogue safe." You get a nod in response from the White Dragon, the boy looking away and you could tell he felt somewhat contrite for not having interposed.

"I'm glad none of you got hurt." You let out a small smile.

"I guess, but don't expect me to do that again. Next time, I ain't gonna be watching." Sting didn't feel right about leaving you to be penalized, but he also didn't want his best friend to be seriously injured or killed. Jiemma didn't control his anger well when upset.

"How does it make it okay that you could be the only one to get hurt?" Rogue spoke and Sting could feel some tension in the air. This was a very difficult matter for all of you because none of you wanted to risk the other getting hurt. If Sting was being punished by Master and Rogue wanted to save his best friend, you probably would hold him back in fear of losing Rogue, too. No one wanted to lose one another so it made protecting each other challenging.

"It's not like I wanted to, but I didn't want Master getting you, too." You answered Rogue back calmly, but you were slightly indignant at his comment. Did he not see that you took it all just so he wouldn't be in danger?

"I could have handled it."

"Rogue, he is our MASTER. He is stronger than all of us combined!"

Sting frowned, sensing that he should leave some privacy for you and Rogue. He gathered the cats in his arms, telling the couple that he'll return later.

"You think I couldn't protect you?"

"Of course I do! I just...I didn't want you getting hurt, too."

"What if I was in your position? And Sting was holding you back along with me using my powers to bind you to your spot?"

"That wouldn't happen."

"Why? Because you'd come and save me, right? Just like what I was trying to do with you today."

"Because you wouldn't make a mistake like me! You aren't dumb enough to put your feelings over victory! I know none of our guild members care for each other, but I'm the only idiot that does! Even though they would probably let me die, I couldn't do that to anyone. It's just not right!" You lowered your head, closing your eyes, "It's hard to fit in Sabertooth. I still feel so disconnected even after all this time of being a member. Sometimes I question if I'm the one doing something wrong to feel this way."

Rogue frowns at your explanation and sits beside you, "Don't change who you are or how you feel just because you wish to 'fit in.' We aren't robots programmed to act how Master or everyone wants. All we can do is be careful."

"I hate feeling like this..." you whispered then felt Rogue's lips against your cheek. You tun your head slightly to connect your lips with his, arms slowly wrapping around his neck. With the kiss unbroken, he starts to lower you to the bed while one hand was behind your back for support. You let him, pulling away first once your head is resting on your soft pillow.

"What you did was noble and brave, something that not everyone in Sabertooth has. I hate what Master did to you, but I am glad that you aren't corrupt like the others. __(y/n), next time I'm not going to stand by and watch. Trust in my strength. Let me protect you, too."
He dips his head again for another kiss, your hands tangling themselves in his black hair. You press your mouth a bit closer to him and feel him nibble on your bottom lip. You part them enough to let his tongue through, the small muscle brushing against the inside of your cavity. Your tongues push against one another in a playful wrestle as you breathe through your noses to delay the need to disconnect. Your hand moves to the sash around his waist, attempting to untie the blue cloth. Rogue separates from the kiss, but doesn't leave you untouched for too long as your neck is now being targeted. The lights suddenly shut off and you concluded that it was thanks to your boyfriend's shadow powers. You let out a small moan as your body begins to tingle when Rogue moves further down your collar bone. You whisper his name quietly, allowing yourself to momentarily forget about today and focus on this special night.

--

So pitiful!

You're pathetic!

Nuisance!

Loser!

How did you even get to be a part of the guild?

You're shaming the name of Sabertooth!

You hear a mixture of your guild members voices as well as your Master's. It was dark at first, but you suddenly see the face of Jiemma and his large hand striking you. You start to relive what happened earlier when you failed that mission with Waotaka. You don't feel any pain as Master attacks you, but the emotions you perceived from before are still lingering.

Why? Why even in your sleep you couldn't dream peacefully?

A dark figure abruptly pushes Master to the side, your head peeking out from the covering of your arms. You see Rogue fighting against Master, eyes wide as his attacks have no effect on Jiemma.

"I won't let you hurt __(y/n)!" You hear your lover shout. However, Rogue is receiving heavy injuries when Jiemma reacts, your body frozen in its place. You couldn't move or scream. You knew it was only a dream, but it still felt real. It was almost as if you were having a premonition. Tears were pouring from your __(eye color) orbs, still attempting to yell while Rogue hits the ground hard. Blood is quickly expanding underneath him and you can't see his chest rising or any movement.

You want to run by his side to help, but your mobility is very restricted. Jiemma turns to you with a sharp glare before saying,

"It is your own weakness that got him killed!"

The rest of Sabertooth's laughter echoes in your ears while you bury your hands in your hair, staring wide eye at the ground. You could feel your heart pounding hard against your ribcage, Jiemma's last words haunting you.

--

You finally snap back to the real world, your body temperature feeling hotter than normal. You sat up, looking around to find that you were still in your room. Beside you was a sleeping Rogue, his body free of wounds. You let out a sigh of relief before reaching over to your nightstand for your water bottle.

'Ochitsuke! It was only a nightmare.' you told yourself as you took a few deep breaths. Your body starts to cool down quickly especially with your lack of clothing. From the small pile of your and Rogue's clothes on the floor, you grabbed your underwear and shirt, placing it on your person to keep you from getting cold. You pull the blanket up more, making sure to cover Rogue completely. You snuggle up to his bare chest then he unconsciously moves an arm over you. You give his shoulder a kiss before attempting to fall back to sleep.

--

Rogue didn't want to leave you for today, but he was already scheduled to complete a mission with Sting. Rogue and Frosch were in your room, saying their good-byes. Sting and Lector have already done so, waiting outside of the dorms for their partners.

"Are you feeling better, __(y/n)-nee?" Frosch asked and you looked down, picking up the green cat. You smiled, pecking his head as you nodded.

"Yes, much better. Thank you."

"Are you sure you don't need me to stay?" Rogue gives you a slightly concerned look.

"Yes, Ro-kun. It's fine, trust me. I'm only going to be resting today so if you stay with me, we won't be doing much. At least you can have a productive day with Sting."

"Yeah, but still..." He feels you give his cheek a peck, using one arm to embrace him while the other held Frosch.

"Go. Stay safe and have fun, ne?" You lean up to kiss him softly, Rogue returning it easily until you disjoin. __(e/c) irises meet with red ones while your lips curve into a slight smile.

"Love you."

"And I love you, too." Rogue smiles, wishing he didn't' have to leave today.

"Fro, too!" You both look down at the happy exceed. "Fro loves __(y/n)-nee!"

"Hai, hai. Of course I love Fro-kun, too." You giggle softly before bringing him to the floor. You watch the two leave, closing your door once they exit through the stairwell. You leaned against the door, closing your eyes and biting your bottom lip.

'I'm sorry.' You thought, a hand over your aching heart.

--

"Man, finding that guy took way too long." Sting stretched his arms before clasping them behind his head. Rogue nodded, walking beside his dragon partner but his mind was focused elsewhere. It was late into the night when they finally accomplished their request for the day.

"Stop worrying about __(y/n) so much. She's fine. I bet all she did was sleep the whole day." Sting gave his best friend a pat on the back.

"Un." Rogue lets out a tiny smile, but is glad for Sting's support. At least they were returning to the dorms and he can finally see you. The boys shower first to get rid of whatever dirt they were covered in before relaxing for the rest of the night.

"Hey, we're gonna go out to eat, you wanna come?" Sting asks while he is leaning against the doorframe of the shadow dragon's room.

"You guys go on ahead. I'll ask __(y/n) what she wants to do." Rogue replies as he is towel drying his hair. He lets the cloth hang from his neck, looking through his drawers to pick a shirt.

"All right. We'll be at Dino's restaurant if you guys wanna join." Sting and Lector leave, Frosch telling Rogue that he'll go to your room first. A few moments later, Rogue's ears pick up the sound of whimpering and sniffling. He looks to the door and finds Frosch with tears rolling down his pink cheeks with a paper in his hands.

"Rogue...__(y-y-y/n)-nee...she's..." Frosch couldn't properly speak as he holds up the letter for Rogue to read. Rogue's heart is pushing itself out of his chest quickly as his eyes scan through your words and his mind still processing if what was happening is real.

'I'm sorry, but I can't stay in Sabertooth. I don't want my actions hurting you, Rogue. I can't tell you to not hate me for leaving, but if you do, I will understand. I know you will become an even greater Sabertooth mage in the future, keep doing your best. Frosch, it looks like we can't play anymore, but Lector, Sting, and Rogue are there to keep you company. Thank you, Rogue and Frosch, for everything.

I love you both. I'm really sorry.

Love,

___(y/n)'

--

"Just a single room for tonight, please." You had reached an inn in a small town very far from the Sabertooth Guild. You have been traveling for the whole day, feeling too tired to continue your journey.

"Ah, how lucky! We actually have only one open." The owner of the motel smiles as he grabs a key from the wall. The short and chubby man first takes down your name and information as well as the amount for your stay. You then follow him to a set of stairs that would lead you to your floor.

"So, what brought you to our little town?" He decides to start a conversation during your small trip up the steps.

"I was actually passing by."

"Oh, so you're a traveler?"

"Yes, but hopefully for not too long. I am in search of a new guild."

"New guild? From how you're saying it, you used to be part of one?"

"Mhm, but that place wasn't meant for me."

"Well, things happen for a reason. At least now you know. But if you're looking for a guild, I highly recommend Fairy Tail."

"Fairy Tail?"

"Yeah! I have a friend who lives in the town where it's located at and he knows some of the guild members there. They're super strong and nice, too. They used to be at the top, but a lot of things happened, but they're gonna rise back up quickly. You should check it out."

"Hm. I think I will, thank you." He gives you the key to your temporary room, bidding you a good night before you unlock the door. You change into your night clothes before settling on the bed, thinking about the guild that the man suggested you visit.

'Fairy Tail...' you finally remember that particular guild's name, having heard various rumors. It was said that they were the number one in Fiore, but didn't all guilds claim that they were?

It was true that they lost a significant amount of members, but apparently they returned. You figured that you would obtain more information tomorrow once you reach the town of Magnolia. You let out a sigh, bringing the covers closer to your face as Rogue is the last person you think of before drifting off to sleep.

[1] When I mean four boys, I mean Rogue, Sting, Frosch, and Lector. Lol. I thought it was easier writing that instead of putting down all their names. Besides, hopefully you know what I mean by that ^^U. Obviously, the only one you're dating is Rogue and the rest are your male friends....ummm yeah, you get the point, ne?
