Rogue Cheney(Ryos) x ReaderChapter 4: Home
Rogue regrets being easily persuaded by Sting to not leave until the next day. The White Dragon had caught Rogue leaving the city and convinced him to think about his actions. He knew what he wanted, but where does he start? Maybe that was what was Sting was trying to convey. He wanted his shadow friend to have a plan before leaving instead of searching blindly. Sting and Lector stayed behind in case of that small chance that you would return to your home. Frosch was flying beside Rogue, rushing towards the next town. He had figured you went to a place that was opposite of Sabertooth's philosophy. He found that difficult since most guilds weren't obsessed with victory to the point of harming their comrades.
'__(y/n), I still don't understand why you left, but I'm not letting you go.
'So...this is it.
' You were looking up at a decent sized building but the exterior was in need of repairs. You took a deep breath before entering, eyes wide and mouth open as you see the entire room in a brawl.
"S-save me!" You heard a girl say as she crawls from a cloud of smoke, blonde hair flying in different directions with an exhausted expression. She blinks when her eyes meet with a pair of shoes, following the feet up to your face.
"H-hi." you say with a small smile, unsure of how to react to the mosh pit of people.
"Hey there!" She stood up immediately, fixing herself as she gives a big smile. "Is there anything I can help you with? I'm Lucy, by the way."
"I'm __(y/n) and yes, I was wondering how I can join this guild?"
Her eyes lit up at your request, opening her mouth to answer but instead she gets pushed to the side by a pink haired boy. "You wanna join Fairy Tail? That's great! C'mon, let's go to jii-chan. Oh and I'm Natsu!"
You felt him take your hand as he pulls you quickly to the bar. You are careful of the bag you're holding while making sure not to accidentally trip.
"Jii-chan! She wants to join Fairy Tail!" Natsu lets go of your hand as you are presented in front of a very small master. Despite his size, you sensed great power in him.
"A new member? Haven't had one since Wendy." Fairy Tail's Master smiled, setting down his beer. "I'm Makarov, the master of this guild."
"It's nice to meet you. I'm __(y/n)."
"Hah? Who's this?" You look beside you to see a man dressed in only his boxers. You blush deeply, looking away from his fit body.
"She's __(y/n)! She's gonna be part of our group!" Natsu responds, not concerned for his lack of clothing.
"All right! The more the merrier, ne?" The black haired one gave you a grin, "So, where you from?"
You notice that a small crowd formed around you, everyone curious as to who their potential member was.
"I used to be a member of Sabertooth."
"Why did you suddenly want to change?" Makarov questioned.
"I want to be in a guild where I feel safe and happy." You let out a small smile.
"You've come to the right place." A woman replies and you notice her beautiful, scarlet hair and armor. You then recognized her as the mighty Titania.
You nod, placing your bag down and peeling Rogue's cape from your body. Rogue had given you one of his capes to use and keep. You found that it brought you comfort whenever you were apart. You positioned yourself in a fighting stance, almost as if you were waiting for an attack.
"Ummm....what are you doing? Lucy asks, the rest of the audience giving each other confused looks.
"You are...not going to check my endurance and strength?"
"Hah?" Natsu blinks a couple times at you before laughing slightly, "No, of course not! We don't do that here! Just pick a spot where you want the guild mark to be on."
"Eh? Really?" You dropped your guard, looking at Makarov for clarification.
"He's right." He answers then instructs Mirajane to bring the stamp. He frowns slightly at your bandaged body, finding that almost every part of you was covered.
"What happened, __(y/n)?" Makarov calls out to you, "did you get into a fight?"
You knew what he was talking about, grabbing Rogue's cape to shield yourself. "This was my punishment from my previous guild."
"Y-you mean, someone from your guild did that?" Lucy couldn't help but let out a small gasp.
"Yes. It was my mistake though. I had to stop a mission because one of my guild members was in danger but Master Jiemma was very angry at my decision. Because of my choice, we lost a client and potentially shamed Sabertooth's name."
"And what were your other nakama doing?" Erza asks.
"The other members did nothing, but my friends tried to help. But I couldn't burden them with my problems. Master would have hurt them, too."
"What the hell kind of guild is that?" Natsu growls, "it pisses me off that there are guilds who can hurt their nakama."
"As much as I agree with you, we cannot do anything." Master Makarov crosses his arms, having heard rumors about Sabertooth's strict policies.
"I-I can heal you, __(y/n)-san!" A young girl with blue hair shyly speaks up.
"That's fine, thank you. I don't want you wasting your energy. This is my punishment and besides, my wounds will heal." You smiled gratefully at her.
"You will be joining Fairy Tail so you are going to need to get used to accepting help from others." Erza places a hand on your shoulder, giving a comforting squeeze.
"Besides, it'll be good practice for me." The little dragon slayer adds as you finally agree. If you could somehow help, then you'll let her use her healing magic on you.
"You have a wonderful talent. Your healing magic is soothing and I feel very refreshed." you complimented, discarding the bandages and was amazed to see that no scars were left behind. The girl blushed at your comment, responding with a timid and thankful look.
"Since we all know your name, I'll introduce you to everyone!" Natsu offered, the rest of the gang gathering near you. It was difficult memorizing all of their names, but you knew in time you'll get it right.
It has been a long and disappointing week and it seemed like the frustration
was not going to end soon. Rogue and Frosch were entering another new town, still searching for you. You could be anywhere in Fiore or maybe even else where, but Rogue would not give up on you. He notices Frosch's tired look and the weak fluttering of his wings.
"Let's rest. We've been traveling all morning." Rogue says, stopping by a small and simple restaurant.
"Rogue, are we ever going to find __(y/n)-nee?" Frosch looks down at his lap, the two of them waiting to be served.
"Of course. If you have any doubts, we'll never be able to find her. We have to believe and work hard."
"Fro wants to find __(y/n)-nee! Fro will work really hard!" Rogue lets out a small chuckle in his cat's response, gently placing a hand on his head.
"But first we have to replenish ourselves."
Rogue was also fighting his own doubts, but he needed to stay focused, not only for Frosch, but for him also. It was almost as if he was convincing himself that you weren't gone forever. After a couple hours of rest, Rogue begins to question the villagers if they have seen you pass through town.
"Hmmmm, you know, I think I might have seen a girl that you're talking about. Follow me." A short, round man begins to lead the two towards a motel. He had been stopped by Rogue on his way back to work after taking his lunch break.
"That name sounds really familiar. She had __(hair color) and __(length) hair and about this height, right?" The motel owner tried to confirm his description of you.
"Yeah! That sounds like __(y/n)-nee!"
"She had a pretty name so I couldn't forget it that easily. Besides, I remember her saying she was looking for a new guild and I recommended a place for her. Just to be sure we're talking about the right person, let me check the sign in list."
The three walk into a building not too far from where they were, the man nodding to his wife who was helping at the front desk. She smiles kindly at the guests before leaving to continue her work in their office. The owner pulls out a big book from one of the shelves behind him, looking through a couple of pages. He scans through them quickly, but stops when he finds what he's looking for. His finger points to a name written in black ink, turning the book in order for Rogue to better see it. His eyes widen at your name, bringing his face closer to make sure his mind was not fooling him into seeing what he desired.
"I'm guessing by your reaction, that's her?"
"Yes, it is. Has she been here ever since? Do you know if she's said anything about where she might be going?"
"No, that's the only time she stayed here, which was a week ago. I believe she went to Magnolia. She seemed interested in joining that Fairy Tail guild."
Rogue and Frosch leave immediately, thanking the motel manager and using the information they have just learned.
"Thanks for helping me with my stuff." You smile gratefully to your new friends, returning to the guild from the girls' dormitory. You were debating between renting an apartment or living in Fairy Hills. You found that Fairy Hills was more convenient, seeing how there was a room available and the price was within your range.
"No problem, we wouldn't just leave you on your own in a new town." You hear Erza say. You've become part of what you heard was the strongest team in Fairy Tail, which consisted of Lucy, Natsu, Gray, Erza, and Happy. Of course you sensed great power from the rest of the guild members, but these particular individuals were unstoppable when combined.
"Here, let me get the door for you." Gray walks a bit head of you, pulling on the knob to provide you access inside. As soon as you stepped in, a loud 'SURPRISE!' cheer made you jump and stumble backwards.
"Heh, surprised?" A pair of hands were on your shoulder, preventing your fall. You turn your head to see Natsu behind you, wearing a huge grin on his face.
"Hai! I am, but I'm confused?"
"This is your welcome party! See?" Mirajane gently clasps both your hands, bringing you to the center of the room.
"Sorry if it's delayed, but everyone wanted to surprise you." Your new master says, grinning at your shocked expression.
"My welcome party?"
"Yeah! We're celebrating you joining the guild!" The celestial mage sends you a wink.
"Oh wow. I really wasn't expecting this! I don't think I've ever had a welcoming party before. I'm so grateful!" You didn't feel like you deserved it, still feeling out of place. But maybe this event could help you grow closer to everyone.
"All right! Now let's get this party started!" Natsu raises his hands, fire propelling from his mouth. You laugh quietly into your hand at how the excitement begins to rise, but in your heart, something was missing.
The celebration continued to be active, the crowd showing no signs of exhaustion or boredom. You took this chance to step outside for fresh air, feeling the room become hot from the amount of people inside. You inhaled the clean, cool air with your head tilted back slightly. As you stared up at the night sky, you are reminded of a certain black haired dragon slayer.
You were about to let out a sigh until you heard someone approaching you. You turn towards the stepping noise, finding it to be Gray. You notice his absence of clothing, hands covering your eyes.
"I'll find them later. It's too hot to wear them right now"
You bring your hands away from your face, but concentrate on focusing on his face and not his lower half.
"Yeah, I needed a breather, too." You understood why Gray wasn't in a hurry to conceal his bare legs. The two of you stand there in silence, Gray watching you from the corner of his eyes.
"Something on your mind?"
"Hmmm? Oh, yeah, but it's nothing."
"I'll listen." He offered then his expression becomes serious. "Is someone bothering you? If someone's harassing you, don't hide it. If you don't want everyone to know, I understand, but at least let me know. I'll take care of it."
You are surprised by his protectiveness, but giggle at his assumption. You admire how Fairy Tail always looked out for one another, a trait that was not seen in Sabertooth.
"No, no, no. I promise, no one is bothering me. I was just thinking of my boyfriend."
"Boyfriend? You never mentioned you had one."
"No one asked." You shrugged slightly then you notice a small look of disappointment on Gray's face. You are about to question, but figure it was your imagination. "Well, actually, I don't know if he still considers me his girlfriend."
"Why's that? If he's trying to break up with you, then he's an idiot for letting a good girl go."
"Actually, I was the one who left." you explained the letter you left Rogue before joining Fairy Tail.
"I've been thinking about it ever since. I feel like a...bitch. But I didn't know what to do. I didn't want him or my friends to get hurt."
"Man, that's tough." Gray rubbed the back of his head, unsure of how to respond. "But you didn't do anything wrong. From what you told us, staying in that guild was dangerous. I'm sure your friends and boyfriend will understand. You did it to protect them."
"Yeah, but I wonder what he's thinking. Does he miss me? Is he thinking about me? Does he hate me?" Your eyes begin to water, teeth pressing down on your bottom lip to suppress the tears from falling. Gray has a slightly panicked look, not good at dealing with his female friends crying.
"Oi, oi, don't cry. It's gonna be okay. I'm sure he doesn't hate you. No one could ever hate you. You're a a great person!" He has one arm over your shoulder and the other rubbing your arm. The ice mage hoped to ease your mind slightly, showing you his support. "There is no reason for any one of them to hold a grudge against you."
"Still, I know they probably weren't expecting me to leave like that." you sniffled quietly, giving him a tiny smile, "Thanks. Sorry, tonight is suppose to be a happy night and here I am thinking about my old guild."
"It's all right. There's no need to be sorry. You got us now, so don't think you're gonna go through this alone."
"Thanks again. I don't know what to do, like if I should go back to see them or write to them? I don't know if they'd even what to see me, but I just miss them so, so much."
"If you do want to go back to see them, we'll come with you." Gray then pounds his fist sightly over his guild mark. "We're nakama. We're here for you."
"Hai!" You nodded before wiping a tear from your right eye, your heart feeling less heavy. "Anyway, let's go back?"
"Sounds good. Let's get you a nice glass of cold water." Gray and you are about to turn, but your ears pick up a high pitched voice, your mind recognizing its owner. You feel something against your chest, the impact pushing you backwards through the slightly opened doors. You stumbled, but quickly regained your stability. Your eyes widen at a familiar pink frog suit, arms quickly wrapping around him.
"__(y-y-yn)-nee! Fro misses you a lot, too! Come back home! Don't leave Fro and Rogue!"
"__(y/n)..." A deep voice makes your heart thump heavily and you look up to see your boyfriend by the doorway.
"Hah? Who the hell are you?" Gray asks, giving Rogue a hard look, also standing by the entrance way.
"Relax, she knows me. We were from the same guild. I'm her boy-" Rogue is unable to finish as you see a flash of pink fly past you and a fist makes contact with your boyfriend's face.
"Rogue!" You and Frosch yell, having witnessed the shadow dragon slayer fall on one knee.
"Natsu! Why did you do that!? He just said they used to be from the same guild!" Lucy scolds, rushing to stand beside you. By now, everyone in Fairy Tail had calmed down, eying the situation between you and the two strangers. Natsu lifts Rogue by the front of his shirt, growling lowly as he brings his face close to his.
"If you're from the same guild, why the hell didn't you protect her!? Aren't you guys nakama?! Any one who doesn't care about their nakama gotta deal with me!"
Rogue stares at Natsu with a wide eyes, his protective words shocking him. He was not expecting you to have formed this type of relationship with Fairy Tail so quickly. Why was Natsu so defensive? But somehow, Rogue couldn't respond to the pink haired boy. He looks away in shame, knowing that he was somewhat at fault for your wounds.
"Natsu! It's all right! Please let him go!"
"But he let you get hurt!"
"Because I didn't let him! I stopped him! I didn't want him getting hurt either! He isn't like all of the other Sabertooth members. I promise!"
Natsu listens and reluctantly releases Rogue's clothes. He's having a difficult time accepting the fact that your boyfriend didn't have the same mentality as the other Sabertooths, but he trusts your judgement. Natsu sees how concerned you are with Rogue, squatting beside him as you gently stroke his affected cheek.
"Sorry..." Natsu apologizes, feeling guilty for worrying you.
"Don't apologize. You are right. I wasn't able to better protect her."
"I thought we agreed that it was no one's fault? Please stop blaming yourself." You frowned, helping him up from his one knee position.
"Rogue, are you okay?" Frosch is floating around his face, observing the red area.
"Eh?! An exceed just like us!" Happy points at the green cat, Carla and Lily pivoting their heads towards Frosch.
"Mhm, his name is Frosch. And this is Rogue." You laced your fingers with his, smiling at your Fairy friends.
"H-h-he's your...b-boy-..you are..d-dating?" Erza became nervous at the realization of yours and Rogue's relationship. She lowered herself slightly before saying, "O-omedetou! I may be a little inexperienced and naive, but please take care of me!"
"What is she doing?" Rogue leans closely to whisper in your ear.
"Ummm, I'm not sure?"
"Wait, this guy is your boyfriend!?" Natsu screeches and you nod happily in response. Faces of the Fairy Tail boys are outlined with despondence at the news, your head tilting to the side slightly.
"Ara? Everything okay?"
Rogue squeezes your hand a bit tighter, understanding why, but keeps quiet.
"If you're here, does that mean you're going to take __(y/n) back?" Happy frowns, unsure of Rogue's motive.
"It is up to her if she wants to return to Sabertooth. I just want to talk to her."
The group let the couple be, you and Rogue walking outside to the back momentarily. You were so happy to see Rogue again, but guilt was beginning to destroy it.
That's right. You left them without giving them a proper warning. All you did was leave them a note.
Rogue's hands suddenly cup your cheeks, his lips pressing hard against yours. You don't respond at first, surprised by the swift gesture, but immediately kiss him back. He would pull back slightly then cover your lips with his constantly, almost as if to make up for all the kisses you two couldn't exchange while you both were separated. A few seconds later, he ceases the motion and rests his forehead against yours.
"Why? Why did you leave?" His quiet voice shakes your heart, almost impeding your breathing.
"I didn't do it to hurt you. I wanted to protect you and everyone else."
"Protect us?" You feel him slowly depart, but you gently grip his hands that were still on your face, indicating him to stay.
"Yes, because I didn't want my weakness to end up harming you. What if that same incident happens again and this time, I'm unable to stop you from interfering? I wouldn't even want to think of what could happen to you." you sniffled twice, staring at the ground, but kept your foreheads connected, "I didn't leave you because I didn't love you. It was to keep you safe and to preserve whatever is left of my self worth that they haven't destroyed yet."
Rogue was beginning to understand better from your point of view and his mind was alleviated from the stress of thinking that you were losing interest in him. He had all these unnecessary thoughts plaguing his mind, but he found that you were putting him first.
"Do you...hate me?" He hears you ask, Rogue finally creating a small distance to stare at you. He wanted you to read his expression as he gives you his answer.
"No, of course not. I don't hate you at all nor am I angry." He had a feeling you would ask if he was upset with you, "I love you very much, __(y/n). I only came here to talk about the letter."
"Hmm. I see." You nodded, but somehow felt...disappointed? What exactly were you expecting? For Rogue to beg you to come back with him? No, of course not. Especially not after having left without properly saying good-bye or even discussing it with him. "So, when are you going back to the Sabertooth guild?"
"I'm not going back."
"What? Why not?"
"I'm leaving Sabertooth."
"Wait, why? What happened?" You began to panic, thinking that Jiemma might have done something to contribute to Rogue's withdrawal from the guild.
"Nothing happened. I decided on my own."
"How come? Isn't that your home? You've been in Sabertooth for like...ever!
"No, __(y/n), my place is only with you. A home is where you feel safe and where you can open your heart. I don't feel that way in Sabertooth."
"But what about being part of the strongest guild?" Before dating Rogue, you remembered how obsessed he was with being Jiemma's top fighters. Although you weren't considering Fairy Tail weak, but after the Tenrou occurrence, adjustments were in progress.
"You are my strength." Rogue gently smiles, pushing strands of hair behind your ear.
"T-then what about Sting?"
"He is my best friend, but you are my priority. Sting can make his own decisions. Besides, I've talked it out with him before I left. Like I said, my life right now is you and me."
Your face is red from his sweet words, amazed at how easy it was for him to respond. "Okay, your answers are way too perfect, but I'm not complaining."
You embraced him tightly, nuzzling your cheek into his chest. He hugs you back just as strong, chuckling lowly at how satisfied you are from what he's said.
"At first, I was going to try and persuade you to come back, but after seeing Fairy Tail and how well they treat you, I'm hoping you can help me get a spot." When Rogue and Frosch went to visit the guild, they saw the party you were having inside from the window. He saw how happy and how much you were laughing around these new people and he suddenly felt afraid. Especially when you came out alone with Gray. For a brief moment, he thought you replaced him with that ice mage. But through your words and actions, he knew that he still held a place in your heart.
"Eh? You want to join Fairy Tail?"
"I just want to be with you." He leans down to peck your nose when you looked up at him. You feel like your blood sugar is no longer within normal limits from how sweet Rogue was. He always knew the right things to say to you.
"I'm glad that you're in a guild where they treat you with the respect you deserve. Also, I'm happy to know that you're very protected here."
"Yes, everyone here is so nice." You release your hug from him, taking his hand to lead him back inside. "C'mon! Let's ask Master about you joining!"
The thought of Rogue being a member of your new guild made the excitement in you increase. This meant that the two of you wouldn't have to be separated anymore. Similar to you, Rogue and Frosch were easily accepted into their new guild. Natsu apologizes again for his sudden punch, but Rogue doesn't hold a grudge. They begin to interact as if Rogue had been a friend returning from a long journey.
You and Rogue were the very few people not asleep on the floor, tables, or chairs. The two of you wanted to sleep on a comfortable mattress. You were carrying Frosch in your arms, following Rogue to a motel since he hasn't found a permanent home. You would offer to bring Rogue to Fairy Hills, but it was an all women dorm. Once Rogue rented a room, you set Frosch on one of the beds before crashing on the other. You had taken off what you normally didn't wear to sleep, Rogue doing the same. Your shadow slayer slides himself beside you and you instantly snuggle against his chest.
"I miss this." you whisper, keeping your voice to a minimum so you would not disturb Frosch's sleep.
"Me, too." He takes your hand, kissing your fingers. You both lay there, enjoying the affectionate closeness again and listening to the outside.
Rogue finds himself on his first mission with those considered to be the strongest team. With the addition of you and Rogue, the seven of you would be the ultimate crew. However, that would only be recognized if he could help accomplish this mission.
"Eiryu no Hoko!" He shoots out shadows from his mouth, pushing aside a canine beast away from the youngest dragon slayer.
"T-thank you, Rogue-san!" Wendy lifts her head from her defensive pose. He nods in response, looking up at a small cliff where a tall woman is standing with a book in her hand.
"Crush them!" She demands to the canine beasts surrounding you and your friends. Through the pained look in their glowing eyes, you knew they were struggling against the woman's spell.
"Stop it! If you want to fight us, then fight without using them!" you shouted and the enemy laughed in response.
"Why would I dirty my own hands?"
"Coward!" Erza glares as she attempts to jump towards her, but a creature intervenes.
"Sorry!" Gray says as he uses his ice magic to freeze the legs. "But I can't have you hurting my friends!"
Rogue flies to were the controller was standing, but she uses her arm to swipe at him. The dragon slayer was quick and had used a shadow as a distraction while he grabbed the book from her hands.
"No!" She screams as she watches him throw the item to a pink haired boy.
"Natsu!" He yells a warning, but the fire mage was too slow to respond and gets smacked in the face.
"What the hell!? Why are you giving me this? I don't have time to read right now!" Natsu forgets the importance of the book and swings his arm back.
"Don't throw it, you idiot!!" Lucy yelps as Gray quickly freezes Natsu's body, leaving his head untouched.
"Gray, you bastard! Why'd you do that!?"
"Are you a dumbass? You were about to throw the very thing that could reverse all of this mess!"
"No one told me about that!"
"That was our main objective since we started fighting! How much of an idiot are you!?"
"Idiot? Who are you calling an idiot?! I'm not the one fighting without any underwear!"
The internal brawl between the two Fairy boys causes a slight disturbance in the battle, Rogue amazed at how quickly they forget the situation. His arm was suddenly grabbed and pulled back in a painful way, the enemy forcing him on his knee.
"You really believe that just because I don't have the book, I can't do anything? Ha! Just watch as I turn you into one of those beasts, just like what I did with the villagers! I've already memorized that spell by heart!" She places her hand over his back, a magic circle glowing under her palm. Before an enchantment was made, a presence makes her head turn behind her.
"Let go of my boyfriend!" You threw a punch to her face, disturbing the transformation and pushing her off the mini cliff. Rogue quickly moves back to the ground, not only to escape another chance of being turned, but to not get in your way. Without the book and control of the monsters, the enemy was quick to be defeated. She was knocked out after your third hit, handing her to Erza so that you could check on Rogue.
"Are you okay?"
"Yes, I'm fine. What about you?"
"Same!" You embraced him tightly, so glad that you interfered before she completed her spell. Lucy and Wendy work on turning the beasts back to human. It took a while and a number of trials, but they eventually became successful. You watch as the creatures' grey fur starts to dissipate and their claws and fangs retract to human size. Their eyes were no longer a frightening gold, changing back to their original color. The last to be changed were their facial features, the canine appearance molding to the people you recognized as the ones who you were searching for.
Gasps and happy chuckles were heard from the ex beasts as they assess their bodies.
"Thank you! Thank you so much! You really did it!" One of them grabs you into a sudden hug, making you blush deeply.
"I-it's no problem!" you replied, covering your face with your hands.
"I'm so happy! Thank you!" He notices you hiding your face. "Why hide your face? I'm not that scary anymore, right? Besides, I want to give you a kiss!"
"Y-you're not scary, it's just...and you can't kiss me either! I'm already-"
"Get off my girlfriend!" Rogue separates the young man from you, giving him a death glare.
"Huh? Oh, whoops! I didn't realize that she was already taken. Haha, my bad!"
"That's not the only problem here." Rogue points at his naked form.
"Ehh?!" The villagers were too joyful to realize that they were celebrating without covering. You and the others gave whatever extra article of clothing you had so they wouldn't return to their homes in the nude. However, none of townspeople seemed to care what their loved ones wore when they returned to the village, their safety being top priority.
"What's gonna happen to that crazy lady?" Gray asks.
"The Custody Enforcement Unit should be on their way." Erza had already contacted Lahar and his group.
"Gray, where are your clothes?" Lucy avoided glancing in his direction.
"I gave it to those guys."
"You didn't have to give everything! You could've at least kept your boxers!"
"I don't need them."
"But there are kids here!"
Erza acts quickly and forces him to cover up his lower half before the children become scarred for life. Your clients give your reward as promised and so much more, truly grateful for Fairy Tail's help.
"Guys! Guys! We should stay here for the night and go to our next mission in the morning! It's not too far from here!"
"Another one? Can't we take a break" Lucy is overwhelmed with exhaustion.
"No way! This one sounds super interesting! It's about ghosts and haunted mansions!"
"Why can't you pick something normal?" It felt like everyday she was dragged to these odd missions. She wasn't too fond of the idea of dealing with the dead. Who knows what could go wrong!
"Sounds fun, right?" Natsu grins widely.
"How does that sound fun to you? What if we end up having a ghost follow us home and end up haunting us?" Lucy had big tears down her face.
"Relax, it'll be fine." Gray reads the request paper that Natsu is holding. "They're paying pretty good."
"I agree with Natsu." You smile slightly, "it'll be fun since we're all together."
You found your team staring at you and wondered if you said something offensive. You looked down, attempting to hide your embarrassed expression but felt an arm over your shoulder.
"All right! Now you're really becoming a true Fairy!" Natsu grins.
"I think you just poisoned her mind." The celestial mage jests before the seven of you join the town's celebration.
"You ready for the next mission?" you ask Rogue, the couple sitting in a more quiet area as they share a dessert.
"Hm." He nods and you notice him staring into the lively crowd. "__(y/n), from now on, I want to be a man that can protect his friends. I want to become a man that you can be proud of."
"Rogue, I have and always will be proud of you." You leaned up to peck his temple, leaning your head on his shoulder. You smiled to yourself, glad that he wasn't missing his old lifestyle as a Sabertooth mage. Everything felt quite perfect. Rogue and Frosch were with you, you gained so many friends, and you felt safe and happy with your new guild.
"Another successful mission!" Natsu shouts happily as your group are finally back in Magnolia.
"I am so glad to be back! And in one piece, too! I didn't think I'd make it!" Lucy adds as Levy sits beside her, bringing two cups of cold drinks.
"What did you guys do?"
"I heard you did five missions straight. Good work!" Mirajane brings out two trays of food for you and the others.
"Mhm! Natsu-kun says our next goal is to do ten!" You help Mira with the plates.
"T-ten!? I barely survived the first two!" Lucy is not looking forward to going on another mission with Natsu.
"I think it'll be a good challenge." Erza grins.
"Well, count me out."
"No way! You're part of this team!" Natsu doesn't give Lucy any chance in saying no. Dinner had been eaten quickly since all of you were very hungry from your back to back missions.
"What are you looking at?" Rogue peeks over your arm, watching you flip through a page of a big book.
"It's a photo album. Mira let me look through it." You then point at a very young Natsu, complimenting at how adorable he looked.
"Wow. He really hates clothes, ne?" You shake your head at a certain pant-less ice mage kid. Rogue becomes disinterested in the album, finding that you were much more worth his attention. You feel him push your hair to one side, his lips planting light kisses on your neck and then to your shoulder.
"Rogue." You giggled out his name, feeling slightly ticklish at his sudden pecks.
"What?" He doesn't stop, even as you laugh a little bit more and squirm slightly, his arm bringing you close to him. He didn't care who saw. Actually, he wanted the others to see just so that they knew you were his and he was yours. Rogue liked his new friends, but over the past few weeks, he did miss having alone time with his girlfriend. Your giggles stop as you heard a knock on the door, turning your head towards the entrance.
"I got it." You stood up, rushing slightly in order to catch the visitor. As you opened the door, you gave a big smile to the stranger,
"Hi! May I hel-" Your eyes widened and you froze, recognizing the people before you.
"It's been a while, __(y/n)." A hand grabs your neck, paralyzing you for a moment as your brain panics at the slightly constricted airway.
"Minerva!" Rogue stood up to charge towards the group, but he gasps at the sight of his best friend, hanging over a green haired man's shoulder. "Sting! What did you do to him?"
"Lector!" Frosch shakes when he sees Lector tied up and being held in the arms of a masked mage.
"They were getting in our way." Minerva answers and Rogue runs towards the three. She holds out her free hand and a blast sends the shadow dragon slayer across the room.
"Let her go!" Natsu suddenly appears above you and Minerva, his fist covered with red flames. A transparent force blocks Natsu's attack and you used your leg to kick at the black haired woman. She releases her hold, being forced to step back in order to avoid your foot. Rufus flicks his arm towards yours and Natsu's direction, a whirlwind pushing you against a wall. Erza, Lucy, and Gray follow Natsu's move, but end up being shoved to the floor.
"We aren't here for any of you. The only ones we want are Rogue and __(y/n)." Minerva says as she waves a hand in front of her and the two of you were transported by her feet.
"Why? We aren't part of Sabertooth anymore!" Rogue glares.
"I don't think we ever gave you permission to leave." Minerva retorts.
"Leave Rogue out of it. I was the one to convince him to leave Sabertooth! So if you want to take someone, take me alone!" You fabricated a small lie to protect your loved ones.
"__(y/n)." Rogue frowned and realizes that you were trying to divert the blame on you. "I left Sabertooth on my own! It was my own decision!"
"Silence." A blast hits both your shoulders, making you lean on your unaffected side. "I don't care who convinced who. None of you were granted permission to leave. We can't take the chance of any important information leaking out to other guilds, now do we?"
"But we would never-"
"I thought I said to be quiet?" Minerva growls as her boot slams hard to the side of your face, pinning you beneath her. She feels your energy growing and snaps her finger once.
"Ahh!" You hear Wendy cry out as she holds onto her burnt arm.
"You bitch!" Natsu growls as he immediately holds the young girl in a protective manner. Should she send another bomb, he'll take the hit for little Wendy.
"If we spend another five seconds in here, I'll kill five of your friends." The black haired woman's face darkens after her threat. You stare up at her with slight fear, biting your bottom lip and lowering your head in defeat.
"Good girl." Minerva's lips curve to a smirk as various explosions erupt throughout the room.
"No! Stop!" Your head quickly shoots up.
"They haven't done anything!" Rogue struggles against his ropes. She ignores your pleas, using her transportation magic to quickly leave your new home. As the smoke and cries of your friends begin to fade, worried tears drop from your __(e/c) eyes and you scream,
